Places To Visit In Jodhpur

Mehrangarh Fort

Built around in 1460 A.D. by Rao Jodha, Mehrangarh fort is the most exquisite tourist destination that stands 100 feet above the city skyline and astounds the travellers with the curiosity of where the walls begin and the hills end. The place has a museum to explore precious artworks, cultural festival, folk festival and sufi spirit festival to attend in the month of October and February.

Jaswant Thada

Built in 1899 A.D. in the memory of Maharaja Jaswant Singh II, Jaswant Thada is called the Taj Mahal of Marwar that has majestic cenotaphs in white marble. The place feels like a temple where deceased rulers are worshipped, beautiful carvings on monument, multi level garden, pond, carved gazebos and a belief that the monument will grant your wish when they shimmer with sunlight turning from white to golden.

Umaid Bhawan Palace

An ideal destination for tourists who want to explore the royal side of Jodhpur, Umaid Bhawan Palace is a celebrated destination that has been named after Maharaja Umaid Singh, the grandfather of current owner Gaj Singh. The palace has 347 rooms, alongwith museums, art gallery, vintage cars and royal clocks - a part of the palace is being operated by Taj Group of Hotels.

Mandore Gardens

Brimming with cenotaphs and old temples, Mandore Gardens is the most picturesque place to visit that no tourist would like to miss out in their sightseeing itinerary. The hall of Rajput folk heroes, deities, statues carved in stones, flamboyants, shrines of more than 300 million Gods are the attraction of this place and if you climb up the hills then you can see the remains of the Mandore city.

Osian Temples

Hailing from 7th and 8th century, there are 15 old hindu, jain and sun temples that portray the architectural proficiency of India.

Ghanta Ghar

Also known as the Clock Tower of the beautiful blue city, Ghanta Ghar is another popular tourist destination that has been listed amongst the must visit places in Jodhpur. Was built in early 1900’s when the place was ruled by Maharaja Sardar Singh, the place is next to Sardar market and is always rushed with travellers and localites.

Bishnoi Village

Yet another popular tourist destination in Jodhpur, is the Bishnoi Village that has many interesting sculptures, culture and traditions to explore. The village still follows their old cultures, customs and traditions - tourists can enjoy camel ride, cane spotting, desert excursion, village walk and take a look around art - handicraft collections.

Chand Baori

Established in the 9th century, Chand Baori is the most fascinating stepwells that has been listed amongst the world’s largest step wells and lures travellers from all over the world to let the distinctive features be explored. The stepwell is 64 feet deep and has in total 13 floors, making it the biggest and famous stepwell in India.

Toorji Ka Jhalra

Jodhpur historical sites’ have some mesmerising stepwells, amongst them Toorji Ka Jhalra is most famous and plays a significant role in the famous Gangaur festival which has been celebrated by women only. In recent years the place is very much vibrant and lively with varied small shops of jewels, artisans and cafeteria.
